Eccentric singer Lady Gaga is being sued for nearly $400,000 of unpaid overtime by her former personal assistant, Jennifer O'Neill, which has unleashed a string of accusations against the singer and her demanding ways.
Although a lot of the biggest singers are known for their diva demands, like Mariah Carey allegedly demanding puppies in her dressing room and Britney Spears not allowing staff to look her in the eye, O'Neill claims that Lady Gaga really took the mickey.
She claims that the Edge of Glory singer demanded that she was at her side 24 hours a day and they shared a bed on tour so that O'Neill could be constantly available. The 41 year old former PA recalled being interrupted by Gaga in the middle of a haircut, telling the court,'She might have said I need some tea, I need — can you get my computer for me, can you get my phone, my battery is dead, I need a tampon, the toilet doesn't flush,' She also alleged that the singer called her in the middle of the night to change the DVD in her player so that she didn't have to walk all the way across the room!
Lady Gaga has rubbished the claims and says that O'Neill is trying to claim money that she didn't earn. She also claims that her former PA became sloppy, refused to unpack her bags for her and that none of her employees earn over time. She told courts 'Not that people who do that don't deserve their hourly pay, but I'm just pointing out that I deserve everything I've worked for. I deserve every dollar of it. And she deserves every dollar of her $75,000 that we agreed to. But she does not deserve a penny more. I'm going to give all the money that she wants to my employees that work hard for me now that deserve it. I'm not going to give it to her so she can go to Intermix and buy herself a new tube top.'
The singer has also branded O'Neill as 'disgusting' and 'a f*cking hoodrat' and says that she treats her staff to expensive meals and they get to live the champagne lifestyle with her. She has admitted that being her PA is a lot tougher than other jobs and told the court 'This job is a 9-to-5 job that is spaced out throughout the day. You don't get a schedule that is like you punch in and you can play f***ing Tetris at your desk for four hours and then you punch out at the end of the day. This is – when I need you, you're available.'
Let's face it, if you're going to be a personal assistant for a pop star, it's going to be 'The Devil Wears Prada' times a million. Or should that be 'The Devil Wears a Meat Dress'?
