n yet another X Factor USA shake-up after the departures of judges Britney Spears and LA Reid, Cheryl Cole is said to be in talks with producers about returning for the third series.
And even though Cheryl filed a lawsuit against her dismissal, a return could be part of a settlement.
She could join the judging panel alongside Simon Cowell and two other female judges.
Cheryl is also wanted for the UK version of the show, with a shake-up expected when it returns for its tenth series later this year.
If Cheryl signs up with X Factor USA, however, it will mark a sensational comeback after the humiliation of being replaced so early on.
She fell out with Simon over her sacking so there could be a bit of tension with them both back on the judging panel.
X Factor USA has been a relative disappointment for Simon.
Despite predicting viewers of 20 million, the show pulled in less than half that and has been in the shadow of its more successful rival, American Idol - the show Simon left to set up X Factor USA.
Cheryl was actually praised by critics when her episodes were shown, so her return may give the series a boost.
And a nice pay slip, no doubt!
