Classmates of the Perry Hall High School student shot and critically injured on the first day of school could be getting closer to making a dream of his come true.
The 17-year-old special needs student Daniel Borowy’s gunshot to the back made headlines. But it’s his friendly personality that has him in his classmates’ hearts and prayers. So much so that his family, friends and classmates launched a social media campaign for his idol, Lady Gaga, to visit him in the hospital. Now, according to WJZ’s media partner, The Baltimore Sun, Lady Gaga has gotten the message. Bruce Tyler, a Baltimore native and former executive vice president of Sony Music and Columbia Records, says he made sure Lady Gaga’s people heard Borowy’s story. Tyler says he’s been told something will be sent to the teen. On Twitter, the hash tag #GagaVisitDaniel is trending. There are dozens of new tweets every hour, all pleading for what friends say would be a morale boosting visit from the music icon.
“It’s just something that he wants and we can make it happen after everything,” said student Nina Manzo.
On the Facebook group, “Prayers for Daniel,” a family friend constantly updates Daniel’s condition.
The Perry Hall Alumni Association is helping to raise money to help cover Daniel’s medical bills.
