Celeb News: John Mayer Loves 'Heroic' Frank Ocean For Being Himself Feb 2nd 2013, 00:28 John Mayer has a lot to say about a special someone in his life. Sure, he did sort of open up about his on-again, off-again relationship with Katy Perry in a new interview with Rolling Stone, but he certainly had a lot more to say about his pal, Frank Ocean. "I love Frank [Ocean]'s stuff. Frank is such an interesting, deep, touched, wonderful guy. They don't make a lot of other Frank Oceans, and the guy is looking for another. And the way that his mind works is craving the same frequency that he's able to communicate on, and I think he's just searching for that kind of depth that he has inside of himself in someone else. He's fascinating to me," he says in the interview. "He's so great." Of course, Mayer is more than just being a fan of the Channel Orange crooner. The twosome collaborated on the track, "White," off that album. And, Mayer later appeared in the trippy video for Ocean's "Pyramids" and alongside the Odd Future breakout star when he took the stage for his "Saturday Night Live" performance last fall. It's Ocean's ability to be open about who he is as a person and an artist that really speaks to the always-candid Mayer. "I think it has more to do with just being that expressive about anything in this day and age, and the depth of his writing. I think it's as much about taking a stand against being f---ing boring as it is about sexuality. It's about standing up and going, 'I know what you're going to say about this, and I don't care.' And I think that was the heroic part," he said. "I know there were parts that were heroic for other people. For me, it's just the heroic self-expression. You don't even need publicists anymore — people are just as scared for themselves as the publicists would be." Mayer's not the only fan of the singer. The Recording Academy is also showing the singer lots of love. It's just been announced that Ocean has been added to the A-list roster of artists set to perform at the Grammy Awards on February 10. Ocean is up for six awards, including Record Of The Year for "Thinkin Bout You," Album Of The Year and Best Urban Contemporary Album for Channel Orange, Best New Artist and Best Rap/Sung Collaboration (with Jay-Z, Kanye West and The-Dream) for "No Church In The Wild." http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/170...ng-stone.jhtml
