Best of 2012: The 5 best non-Adele songs of the year
by EW staff

5. "Home" by Phillip Phillips
The Olympics had it on near-repeat, and with its guitar-strumming folk feel, it provided a nice break from dubstep on radio.

4. "I Love It" Icona Pop
We're a sucker for a good dance single, and this club thumper gets us moving.

3. "Some Nights" by fun.
Blowing up the charts, this pop ditty's enhanced acoustics give the tune its unique sound.

2. "Somebody That I Used to Know" by Gotye

It's been covered by everyone, and good luck getting the track – and the catchy wails — out of your head.

1. "Call Me Maybe" by Carly Rae Jepsen
We'll spell it out: The viral vid you've been doing some serious car-dancing to since March still makes us smile.
