The strategy I'm referring to is essentially the prolonged period of hype and anticipation that began in August and will continue until next year. We got the album title in a period of time which will turn out to be 7 to 10 months prior to its actual release. This is the exact same as the BTW hype tactic, some people will argue that shes only setting herself up for a fall by creating this suspense, but if thats the case we have fallen for it before and are just now falling for it again. Every time she gives a hint about the content of the album or gives us a detail about the project you get a 15+ page thread on ATRL, countless rumors in circulation and a 100 word article by publications like MTV and Rolling Stone based on a single tweet. This strategy contrasts sharply with the one adopted by Rihanna where the album title is announced just weeks before its released, I mean she is literally just dropping the album.
So, whats your opinion on the same strategy gaga assumed during the 9 month lead up to the album release of BTW that she seems to be again putting into place for ARTPOP..... genius, damaging or simply annoying?
