Discussion: What qualifies as pop? Aug 27th 2012, 20:21 This is a very sensitive issue, what exactly qualifies as pop? Because I've seen people say that it's not a genre and anything that is Top 40 is pop, and others say that it's a specific genre of music. The reason I'm wondering is what you would qualify less obvious acts such as Adele, Lana, and Gotye which you wouldnt immediately think of when the word pop comes up.
